Internships in Madrid
Intern in Madrid with housing, placement, and language classes included. Guaranteed placements across 30+ fields, programs starting monthly.
Be ready to walk in Spain…to the Metro, to the bus stop, to the various markets, to get a coffee, and to go out at night. Pretty steady walking in this country is the norm. Throughout Spain there are massive centuries-old cathedrals and palaces (what seems to never make it in print is that they are almost always under construction). It might seem boring but there are museums to visit, as well as cooking and flamenco dance classes to take. Salads are just dressed with oil and vinegar and salt, but somehow taste better than any salad you will make at home.
We can’t write about Spain without mentioning the iconic and legendary nightlife: nothing really happens until midnight, at the earliest, and closing time is well after the sun comes up. Every club at some point will play songs from Grease and old Abba tunes, not kidding here, and there is no irony either. Our three program cities are below, chosen because we have found better internships in Spain in these cities.

Visit the Cathedral of Madrid and the Royal Palace. Remember, you are walking, walking…the city is full of little ponds with statues and fountains. Don’t forget to capture these moments with photos! Attractions to add to your list: Palacio Real, Palacio de Santa Cruz, Iglesia de San Jose, and Palacio de Velazquez.
Join one of the free city walking tours and you will see more, miss less. Spend some time just wandering through the Royal Botanical Garden and Retiro Park. Have a picnic here, there are street artists mixed in with joggers mixed in with families. While we love this important green space in Madrid, we’d rather you wander during the day, not at night.
There are public gardens everywhere, even in the main Train Station, “Atocha!” Watch a soccer game if you are with us between the months of September – April, and feel like a local when you walk into the world famous Bernabeu Stadium where soccer Club Real Madrid plays.

I had an awesome time with Adelante! This was my first time in Europe and they definitely helped me have a great time. All the staff that I talked to were super helpful, both while I was applying and during my stay. The housing was awesome. I was living right in the center of the city, which was incredible, there was so much to do nearby. I worked for a financial consulting company that analyzed the US stock market. I didn’t know anything about the market before I came, but working in the office for 6 months definitely helped me pick up a few things, although I would have liked to learn more. All in all, I highly recommend Adelante. I personally feel that living abroad is an experience that everyone should have, and Adelante is a pretty awesome way to do just that.

My Madrid summer with Adelante was amazing. As a graduate student, I was worried that this program wouldn’t be rigorous enough for me but I am happy to say I was wrong. My internship was so practical and, unlike in the U.S., I was given responsibility on projects and trusted with complex tasks that were presented to clients. My Spanish also improved more than I expected it to and now I feel comfortable talking to any Spanish speaker! Part of what drew me to Adelante is all the planning they do for you before you even set foot in the country. It was such a relief to not have to try to find housing or get an interview for the job I worked for. If you want to go abroad, experience a new culture and get a seriously good experience, Adelante is for you.

Everything in Spain is going well. The internship has been really great thus far. I mainly help to coordinate volunteers for projects that (my internship’s NGO section) has going on. But I have also helped with revisions in Spanish, French and English, and have translated a few articles into English. It’s been really interesting learning about all the programs, software, and how other people translate.
